Cool Weekend Ahead....

Looks like it's going to be a chilly one this weekend. The horses should all be in a nice 'fresh' mood. Planning on riding this weekend so hopefully he won't be too 'fresh' feeling.

I'm hoping to get all the rest of the canning finished this weekend too. I don't have too much left...just need to do the Apple Pie In A Jar yet then I'm done for the year.

Wish me luck riding!

Ready for another year of 4-H...

Well the girls are all signed up for another exciting year of 4H. They aren't doing as much this year (which is a good thing for me I think....hehe) ... C is not going to show a horse at all this year, she has decided that she would rather just fool around in the arenas and trail ride than be in a show ring (says it's boring)... She did very well with her photography this last year and is really enjoying it...she received all blue ribbons for her photos (about 15) and one received a Merit Award and was Selected for State! She did also get the Medal for showing Haley (the mini she showed). She had a wonderful fair! A lot of fun!

... L is no longer going to show Double Time (the mini)...she wants to ride this year so she is going to be showing Danny.....she's very excited about it! She did get a blue ribbon and 2 red ribbons showing DT this last fair. She did very well with her photos and other exploring items she took to fair....all first and second place ribbons......one third place for Model Horse but we will be working harder on that this coming year. She too, had a wonderful fair! And a ton of fun!

What we've been doin'......

Things have been good this last couple weeks.....Danny is healed nicely now.....we've been riding him bareback at least 3 times a week......the new bareback pad is working out very well. I trotted him last night in it and it's much more comfortable on the bones then with out... :)

Lindsay showed Double Time (the mini she leases) at the 4H Fun Show last week and took a 5th Place. She was very happy with that........Double Time was being bratty!

Chelsea has been working hard on her photography projects lately (finally) lol..........She's doing good.....getting a little bit of everything and has about 800 pictures so far to use.

We went and picked Strawberries on Saturday, made some jam and regular strawberries in syrup.....then the girls helped me can them all.......we got a way lot more then we needed, but they had a blast doing it and eating them as we picked.....I ate so many picking that I drove home with a gut ache.

It's been forever again......sorry.......

Well.....oh my......so much to tell that's been going on since the last time I was on here......the first and best thing is that I moved Danny to a bigger and much better barn.....I think he thinks he's at a resort now......he has a brand new stall....dressage size indoor arena...with excellent footing...heated barn.....huge outdoor arena....round pen...5 pastures to rotate in...and more then 9 miles of groomed trails to ride with out ever having to leave the property. The place is all brand new and we all just love it! He seems like a different horse...it's great! He did have a little episode though the other day....he was in with a few horses and doing just fine then they let in a 3rd horse and that horse wanted to play by chasing Danny....well Danny would have none of that and freaked out....ran, jumped and cleared a 5 foot gate then ended up in a pasture he's never been in before and ran right into a fence (didn't know it was there)....he ended up with a scrape on his face and a few scrapes on his legs...but healed nicely in just a few days. No need for the vet to come out at all. The people at the barn were very impressed with his jump (I didn't even know he could)...the other exciting thing that happened is that the girls and I rode him bareback.....he did great......our new bareback pad should be coming via Fed Ex either today or tomorrow....going to ride again tonight with or with out the pad....just can't trot with out it.....I won't put his saddle on him until he gains the weight back that he lost over the winter so bareback we will ride for a while....maybe even all summer....which is fine with me I like riding bareback...plus it will make me and the girls better riders with balance and things.

Other then that things are pretty busy with the gardening and 4H stuff.....fair is sneaking up on us fast :)

Oh yeah....I took Danny to a show a few weeks ago and I actually won 6th place out of 12 horses...it was a showmanship class...I thought it was the greatest thing....my first show ever......it was Lindsay's first show too with Double Time and she took a 6th place and a 4th place......she was wayyyy excited......she has another show this Wed.

OK I think that's it for now.....I will try to keep this updated a little more often from now on!

Muddy Boy!!!

Had an awesome time with Danny last night......he was very muddy so most of our time spent together was in the front yard....him eating that good grass and me brushing and brushing and brushing..........the best part was that I didn't have to chase him at all to catch him....for the first time ever he saw me by the gate and came trotting over to me! :) It was great........quite the bonding moment. I did figure out fast thou that he does not like mopeds......lol.

Ferrier Appt. & Life Update

Well we had our farrier appointment this morning again and Danny did very good! I'm guessing it was just a fluke that he was a total monster the first time she came out to trim him when I swear he was trying to kill that poor girl.

We're now working on painting the dining-room, it's going pretty good so far (at least the stupid blue tape is working better this time) :) I forgot to take before pictures of the dining-room and it's almost half done now so I'm just going to wait until it's done, then I will post pictures.

Our annual 4H Tack Sale is Saturday, I plan to buy a few things for the girls and hopefully they will be pretty much set for showing at Fair this summer. I like it when I can buy a $175.00 show shirt for $15 - $20. :) I will share what I buy next week.
